Colchester Rugby Club hosted a networking breakfast meeting for their sponsors last week, a chance for them to meet, exchange ideas and find out more about the club’s plans.

About 20 sponsors took part in the event and were greeted on arrival by members of the committee giving them time to mix with fellow attendees.

The gathering heard a short talk by Mikey Haywood, the club’s head coach and ex Northampton Saints professional player.

Mikey started by giving a brief explanation of the current position of the club, currently top of the league and unbeaten this season, and his thoughts and hopes for the rest of the campaign. He then took questions from the floor relating to the strength of the club and the future.

The sponsors then enjoyed a full English breakfast provided by the in-house catering team at the Raven Park clubhouse.

Amongst the attended was Kevin McAree, the client director at Howden, one of the club’s principal sponsors.

“This was a great opportunity to meet local businesses and like-minded supporters of the club,” said Kevin. “There is wealth of knowledge, business acumen and connections amongst Colchester’s’ sponsors and the breakfast provided a brilliant opportunity to network and support each other, as well as the club.

“Relationships with local businesses and supporting grassroots sport is so important to Howden, and the club have made us feel very welcome since we came on board as a platinum sponsor.

“Colchester are playing a fantastic brand of men’s and women’s rugby, and we wish them all the very best for continued success during the 2025/26 season.”
