Rugby-In-Tuition returns this summer at Colchester Rugby Club to enhance player’s skills ahead of the 2023/24 season in one to one and small group settings. After a successful first calendar year this programme has gone from strength to strength and is a great opportunity for player’s to gain a physical and tactical edge over their opponents. Thus far, Rugby-in-Tuition has delivered over 120 sessions with players ranging from ages 6 - 35 including 1st team, Iceni, International sevens, youth, minis and Northampton EDPG players.
What is it?
Starting from the 3rd July to the 1st September Rugby-in-Tuition specialises in 1 to 1 and small group sessions for rugby players that want to enhance their abilities on the rugby field. These 1 hour sessions will be specified to the player's positions and work on key aspects of their skills, fitness and understanding. Based at Colchester rugby club, Rugby-in-tution has teamed with the club and Rugby box and uses the fantastic facilities and equipment to ensure top quality coaching is delivered through fun and engaging activities.
The Coaches
Danny Whiteman is an experienced senior player having completed his 14th season for the Colchester 1st team including captaining the squad to the promotion in the 2021/22 season. He has been at the club since the age of six and has played a season out in Australia at the age of 18. He predominantly plays in the back row but has found himself at hooker and has even been seen playing in the backs at scrum half and at centre. He is an experienced PE teacher of 7 years and is a level 2 rugby coach and has taught and coached for the past 5 years at St Joseph’s College.
Due to demand, Rugby-in-Tuition has welcomed Ollie Poulter onto the coaching team. Ollie currently studies Sports coaching science at St Mary's University in Twickenham. Whilst studying Ollie has gained his level 2 Rugby coaching qualification. Ollie specialises in half back development and offers a variety of skills-based practices to develop all rugby players.
What do I need to bring/prepare?
For a session any medical conditions must be declared and any medication should be kept nearby ( e.g. asthma pump and epi pen). Please also bring a personal drink bottle to keep you hydrated, boots and trainers to suit the weather and terrain and suitable sports clothing for outdoor sessions including rain jacket for wet weather.
