Following the miserable weather of storm Austen, the inaugural Fairview Cup kicked off under remarkably clearer skies at Old Brentwoods RFC. However, while the rain had moved on, the winds presented a stern tactical challenge for the teams involved.

Colchester faced familiar opponents Clacton first up, before facing Wansted, a team they had never played before and then Brentwood. Ultimately they did enough in the group stages to progress the main Cup competition.

The Cup semi-finals presented another new opponent in Letchworth RFC who were unfortunately too strong for Colchester on the day and went on to win the Cup against Old Dunstonians in the final.

A great day of rugby, playing against teams old and new.
