Your CRFC club news, find out who made history! along with you weekend round up and much more....

1st XV travel away this weekend for their match against Amersham and Chiltern RFC

Our Cavaliers keep us entertained with this weekends home game and we see a packed Sunday for our youth section...

Our 1st XV pack their kit bags as they head to Amersham and Chiltern RFC for this Saturdays away game. When we played Amersham and Chiltern RFC home at Mill Road we secured our first win of the season and got a bonus point. Heres to round two. Kick off is at 3PM.

"With what has happened again with our bad luck of injuries this week we are asking a big courageous effort from the lads to come away from this important away game with a result. Because we are lighter than normal up front, we are looking at using our pace throughout the team to put the pressure on Amersham tomorrow. I'm sure if the lads are focused and have the desire then we will come away with the win." Lee Soper, Forwards Coach.

Can't make it to the game? Not to worry, we'll be live tweeting and snapchatting the action, so make sure you follow us on Twitter @ColchesterRFC and snapchat: colchesterrugby Why not send our players some support using #ComeOnCol

Our RAVENS continue to rest with no game this weekend. Whilst Colchester A XV head to Beccles for their weekend game kicking off at 2:30PM, our Cavaliers keep Mill Road entertained with their match against Felixstowe, kicking off at 2:30PM. Our Roundheads make their way to Woodbridge II for their game this weekend, and they kick off at 2PM.

Come and give your support. #COMEONCOL

Under 21 and returning home from university for Easter?

Many clubs run successful youth sections but lose players once they go to university. Following on from events at Christmas and in conjunction with Southwold Rugby Club, Eastern Counties is promoting and supporting a University Returners / U21 Festival at Southwold RFC. It will take place this Easter Sunday, 16th April 2017, commencing at 11.30 am.
As an added attraction, Southwold RFC have offered to organise a beer festival and BBQ to complement the festival !! – where a better place to spend Easter ?

It's always a great game and great fun and if you're not sure you're on our radar please let Ross know or email us at press@colchesterrugby.co.uk

Mini's festival part 1

Due to the popularity of our Mini Section (more than 300 active players) our festivals have to be split into two age groups, and on Sunday 26th February the ‘big mini’s’ – our Under 11’s and 12’s, took centre stage. In total 360 young rugby players, from 15 different Essex and Eastern Counties clubs competed in a total of 56 games of rugby.

On March 19th the Colchester RFC U7’s-U10’s have their opportunity to shine in our final mini festival of the 2016-17 season. We estimate that there will be possibly 500+ mini rugby warriors taking to the field; Mill Road will be busier than ever!

If you have any photo's from the festival and like to share then please send them in here.

Whilst the U11's & U12's competed in the first of the mini's festival, our U6's to U9's participated in yet another Colchester Junior Parkrun... well done to you all. You all look like you had a great day.

Throwback Thursday

Colchester win the World Cup!
Thursday throwback takes us back to the bliss 15 seconds that Colchester Rugby Club held the Web Ellis Cup.

In 2004 some may remember the Web Ellis Trophy toured England. On the 15th of March it stopped in at Mill Road.

After many photos a game was played between Colchester and the Tendering Barbarians which saw Colchester win 29 points to 19.

This gave the right for Colchester to lift the Web Ellis Cup and be remembered till the end of time! Errr do you recognise anyone...?

Thanks goes to Natalie Summerson who recognised; Patrick Duffy, Jeremy Castle, Matt Adamson, Roy Abrehart and Shane Manning in this weeks throwback.
Along with Laura Fields; Michael Fields.
Macca Sherifi commented; That's me! Pretty sure we had a backpage headline in the Gazette after that game too. What an amazing day that was!

Thanks to everyone who has submitted throwbacks- please keep them coming here!
