Colchester U16s have great start to Suffolk Cup campaign
Colchester U16s use their power and skill to score 4 tries against Sudbury
The dreadful playing conditions dictated the early phases with Sudbury kicking for position and Despite dominating the set piece Colchester failing to get points on the board. A quick penalty on the twenty two was taken on by Nuttal and Lynch but the referee didn't get sight of any grounding. Stringer made an amazing take at the following lineout and the pack rumbled forward until Hyde took his pass to score under the posts and convert himself.
Sudbury came straight back, won a penalty thirty metres out which they chose to kick for three points.
Solid scrum ball on Sudbury's ten metre line came to Hyde who crashed through and scored again under the posts. Sudbury continued to make territory until Kliedner won a turnover outside his own twenty two and Lynch sidestepped his way out of trouble to relieve pressure.
After changing ends the home team continued to dominate the set plays and camped in Sudbury's half until Lynch plucked the ball from a ruck and scored a majestic front row try from two metres out. With a man in the sin bin Colchester's pack had to work harder and Sudbury started to make some ground back. Although starved of good ball to run with Bourne contributed with a number of crucial tackles.
The last phase of the cup tie ended with Pullen winning turnover which was whipped out to Tyler who crossed the line under the posts and Hyde made it a one hundred percent success with the boot landing his fourth conversion of the day.
