After recent disappointments, Colchester Colts put in a much improved performance against Sudbury in their first Merit game of the day.
Keeping Sudbury penned within their own half for most of the game, Colchester enjoyed good possession and field position throughout. Fly half Sam Evans opened the scoring early on after a clever kick ahead with number 8 Sam Andrews going over from close range shortly afterwards. Centre Marcus Holmes was next to cross after some good backline play with Evans rounding off the scoring after a break from captain Zak Keeley. All tries were well converted by Holmes who enjoyed a good day off the kicking tee.
