Colchester Colts defeat Stowmarket

Colchester entertained Stowmarket in a friendly fixture played in very good spirit. The difficult handling conditions made life challenging for both sides although playing with uncontested scrums did encourage a more expansive game. Many thanks must go to the Colchester Colts who pulled on the Stowmarket shirt to ensure a competitive 15-a-side game for all.

Colchester were ultimately too strong for the improved Stowmarket side but the away side out rucked Colchester in the early stages and had their fair share of ball possession throughout the match. A half time lead of 29-0 (home tries by James Pegler, Elliott Adams, Jack Wilson, Sam Borges and captain Finn Nuttall) was converted into a 50-5 winning margin (with further scores from Zak Keeley, a second from Nuttall and Ben Simpson). Perhaps the best moment of the game came when Stowmarket secured their points with a well worked (and much deserved) score towards the end of the game.
