Colchester Colts travelled to Bishops Stortford for their first outing of the season and emerged victorious in a very competitive and closely fought encounter. With play moving from end to end, both teams enjoyed their fair share of possession and territory; and both sides took the opportunity of rotating players and trying new combinations. Colchester's tries came from an early score by Josh Clark, an outstanding effort by vice captain Ollie Eves, tries from captain Finn Nuttall and then Marcus Holmes; and finally a well worked score for Jonah Varela after a great line break from Tom Coates.
Many thanks to Bishops Stortford for the welcome and well done to the players and coaches from Colchester who can take great encouragement from this opening game of the season.
