Colchester Colts took a large squad of players to Sudbury for a friendly fixture and proved too strong for their game opponents, eventually running out 45-0 winners. Playing into a stiff wind in the opening period, Colchester's game management was effective and by playing good but simply rugby, established a 19-0 half-time lead with tries from hooker Lynch, winger Siddle and fullback Doran (supplemented with two conversions from fly-half Borges). Substitutions and positional changes at the interval disrupted Colchester's play a little, but the away side maintained their better territory and extended the lead with further scores from second row Adams,Doran again, second row Leo Tyler and fly-half Borges (with three more conversions). This was a solid display by Colchester with players taking the opportunity of pushing for places for future Eastern Counties Cup games.
