Colchester Academy travelled to Ealing to play in their latest cup fixture and, despited putting in a very good performance, were defeated on the day by the better side. Colchester enjoyed their experience of playing on the 3D pitch and using the impressive facilities of their opponents; playing with great intensity and effort throughout the match. Colchester took an early lead through a fly half Rhys Smith penalty but conceded three first half scores to trail 17-3 at the interval (the away side also missing a further penalty opportunity). The second half was a much more even affair. Despite conceding another try, the away side maintained their spirit and level of effort and were justifiably rewarded with a score of their own by prop Josaia Wacokecoke with virtually the last play of the game. Very well done to Ealing who deserved their win, but many congratulations to Colchester for their performance - the club and coaches were very proud of you.
