On a day of cup success for both Colchester Colts sides, the Academy team played some good structured rugby and demonstrated very effective defence to prevent Braintree from scoring to achieve a well deserved win in the Eastern Counties Cup. An opening score from number 8 Liam Clancy was followed up by a second try from prop Troy Palmer who showed great pace to race away from inside his own 22 to extend the lead. Further scores by flanker Ollie Dickie and centre Will Blakemore completed a well deserved victory; a comprehensive match report from the Braintree perspective can be found via: http://www.pitchero.com/clubs/braintreerugbyunionfootballclub/teams/144447/match-centre/0-3423476
