Colchester Colts Academy travelled to Chingford to play a newly arranged game and emerged victorious against large and physical opposition. The away side had to work hard to minimise the threat of the larger Chingford pack, but defended well and created enough opportunities for the back line to score a number of good tries; the scorers being Rhys Smith, Will Blakemore, Will Allen and Jack O'Sullivan.
Coach Steve Wright was pleased with the teams performance, saying: "the team had to work hard to achieve this victory. Colchester gave away a lot of size and weight up front but overcame this difference by playing a quicker skill oriented game. The time spent on the training pitch honing handling skills paid dividends at times; the scrum and line out also working well to give good ball supply to the backs. This is very encouraging as we move towards the upcoming cup fixtures".
