Colchester Academy defeat Ipswich

Colchester Academy entertained their counterparts from Ipswich at Mill Road in ideal conditions for rugby. Following an equal opening 20 minutes or so, Colchester found their way through the Ipswich defence and opened up a two score advantage. An unfortunate sending off (straight red card) for the Ipswich number 7 following a high-arm tackle disrupted the away side's patterns of play and Colchester took advantage by scoring two further tries before half time. After heading into the break 24-0 ahead, Colchester maintained the initiative and continued to have much the better of both territory and possession. With the Ipswich defence often on the back foot, the home side ran in two further scores to complete a victory that sets the side up well looking forward to next week's National Cup game against Diss.
