Cavaliers return from Strangers Corner having defeated Brightlingsea 52-5

The Cavaliers travelled to Strangers Corner for their opening fixture in Eastern Counties Greene King Division 4 South against Brightlingsea 2's. The sun was shining for the opening fixture and the ground was firm to say the least.
Mistley 2nds turned up to bolster the Brightlingsea side and 3 Colchester players swapped their black jerseys for red to ensure the fixture was fulfilled.
The game started at pace with big hits from both teams but Colchester couldn't be contained as a try was scored from short range. Brightlingsea had the advantage at the rucks and turned the ball over a number of times throughout the game but to no avail and Colchester scored a few more try's with no reply in the first half.
With ends swapped and the strong coastal breeze behind the Brightlingsea No.10's boot, turnovers were kicked long into touch and Colchester were kept at bay.
Colchester started to win a few scrums against the head which led to the back row linking with the scrum half to move the ball wide with pace.
Colchester scored a few more try's from line out moves and open play to reach a score of 52-0. Brightlingsea continued to battle and worked their way to the try line for their young scrum half to deservedly score a consolation try for the home side.
The game was played in great spirit with Brightlingsea fielding a team made up of 3 clubs and from both young and old which shows how passionate they are just to "play rugby"
