Colchester 3's finish the season with another win.

Colchester visited Clacton on Saturday for their final game of the season, managing to bring the fixture forward in the day so both teams could watch England come second in the 6 nations.
Both teams were short of players from their usual sides but managed to field a full 15 (almost from the start) Clacton got the scoring underway with a try in the first few minutes off the back of a pair of solid scrums from their pack. This was swiftly followed by the now trademark open play from the Colchester backs seeing them put down under the posts, this was a great benefit to Colchester number 9 who assumed kicking duties after David Calver had to pull out of the fixture last minute, fortunately the extra 2 points were added for the first two Colchester tries.
Clacton looked dangerous on a number of occasions and gave Colchester another scare putting their second try over and adding the points.
The second half was frustrating for both teams, a number of penalties and plenty of advantage being thrown around never really allowed the teams to get into full flow. Clacton continued to threaten the defence again and ensured that Colchester had to keep switched on right to the end.
After a number of unsuccessful drives from Clacton a turnover ball was cleared by the full back, putting Colchester out of their half for the first time in almost 15 minutes. Forwards and backs stuck to the game plan of wide open play and almost scored in the corner, had it not been for the Colchester hooker stood upright waiting for the bus to come, the final score would have been at least 5 points higher (in all fairness, the scrum half would have been lucky to find the conversion from that far out).
Clacton put in a huge effort against the league leaders and did not look like a side that had lost all of their fixtures this year. Whilst Colchester 3’s are relishing the idea of playing in EC2 next season they will always extend an invite to Clacton for a friendly at any time. Until then, the players can look forward to having a bit of down time until pre-season training starts in July.
