The A XV played at home against the Hookers, a touring side from the Netherlands. It was a proper pre-season game with everyone getting a run-out. Colchester lost 19-40, with the visitors scoring 6 tried to 3, but our boys played well, over the course of 3 x 20-minute blocks.
The A XV have Clacton 1s at home next week where we will be whittling it down in preparation for our big season opener against Hadleigh, away.
There were some good players today, with a special mention to Elliot Adams who, as a natural flanker from the colts set up, making his senior debut on the left-wing. He was all industry, scoring a try and making some telling runs, as well as being solid in defence. Big up to the senior setup today, we gave 24 men between the ages of 18 and 48 a good run out against a pretty decent 1st division Dutch side.
