COLCHESTER RUGBY CLUB SENIOR SECTION

Welcome to the Senior Section of Colchester Rugby Club’s Web site. We run Four adult sides plus Vets all of them playing at one of the best rugby facilities in the Eastern Counties.

Our First XV currently play in London League Division 1 North  and are backed up by The Ravens who compete in Division 1 of The BL Office Merit Table, for 2nd XV sides of Essex clubs. These players are serious about their rugby and train twice a week, Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 7:15 until Head Coach Tim Grimsey allows them to “Ice Bath” and shower. There they are monitored for weight and dehydration by Faye our sports scientist and injuries are tended by club physiotherapists Ian Succamore and Sophie Newman. Once clear to go it’s upstairs for Gary’s food, generously supplied by our patrons and a chat.

For social rugby players the ‘A’ XV and ‘Cavaliers’ sides compete in Divison 1 & Division 2 respectivley of the Suffolk League. Occasionally we have enough players available on a Saturday for a ‘Roundheads’ side to play local friendlies and there are also midweek fixtures for the Veterans side the ‘Roman Ruins’ who play monthly in the Suffolk 20/20 Vets League. From August these players train on a Wednesday evening 7:30 to 8:30 and all are welcome from 17years old to ancient.

Whether you have relocated in the area for work, or you are based at the Garrison or at the University or you simply want to pull your boots on after a break, you will be made very welcome.
