Amazing, is the only way to describe the season at Colchester Rugby Club this year. Not only did the 1st XV succeed in getting promotion to the National Leagues (scoring 1228 points, the highest number in English rugby), but all the other senior sides won their leagues and secured promotion, thanks to the Ravens' win at Mill Road on Saturday, beating Diss by 51 points to 3.
CRFC has been brilliantly supported by all of its sponsors, but especially its major Club sponsor Whitehall Resources, who recently presented the newly appointed Director of Rugby, Anthony O'Riordan, with a brand new customised BMW.
The success of the Club is underpinned by a strong Mini & Youth section with over 600 players being involved in rugby at all levels on a Sunday - in fact 70% of the players who gained promotion into the National Leagues are home grown players. The Club is also served brilliantly by an army of volunteers and a hugely supportive membership.
Next season the Club will be celebrating its 90th anniversary and is looking forward to building on the incredible success it has experienced this year - some may say it can't get any better but as a Club we're aiming for the stars!
