A hugely successful day for Colchester's youth section...

Suffolk once again hosted their popular youth sevens at The Royal Hospital School on Sunday 27th September. This year saw slightly smaller entry of 38 sides from 11 clubs spread across 2 competitions at 4 age groups. However, the warm sunshine, and the more relaxed atmosphere saw a day of enjoyable and competitive rugby for over 400 boys, and all played and watched in a positive and sporting way.
In the Under 13 competition, run as 2 discrete pools, in the Trophy, Colchester A were undefeated, beating their closest opponents, Bury A by 19-7. Hadleigh, also undefeated, won the Club competition.

The Under 14 competition was run on a conference system, with an unbeaten Colchester A winning the Trophy. Southwold & Woodbridge vied for second place. The Club competition was very much closer with Colchester B just seeing off Felixstowe and Colchester C.

The Under 15s, also run on a conference system saw Colchester A, narrow winners over Woodbridge by 14-7, and Hadleigh by 22-12 win the Trophy; Hadleigh pipping Woodbridge by 19-10 to claim the runners-up position. The Club completion was won by an undefeated Colchester B.

In the competitive Under 16s festival, The Trophy was won by Colchester A – also undefeated, but YM gave them a close run. YM defeated Woodbridge 20-19 in the critical runners-up game. The Club competition was very close with a game Woodbridge B winning at the post.
