Throwback Thursday
RFU Promote Rugby Day at Mill Road (1988)
This week we throwback to Allan Bancroft & his All Star Minis promoting Rugby Day at Mill Road on the 25th September 1988 (almost exactly 28 years ago!)

We know the young girl in the bottom picture (showing the boys how to pass the ball) is Heidi Bancroft, aged 7 and that James Borges (bottom left) is Brian Borges' cousin and he is the son of Andrew and Margaret (Maggie) Borges. But the rest is a mystery...

Do you recognise yourself or someone else? We would love to know who else is in the photo!

1st XV defeated by Dorking RFC 14-21 in hard-hitting home game
In the first half, centre Tom Miller infiltrated the defence, offloaded to flanker Danny Whiteman in support who put hooker Rhys Hartley over for a converted try. But Dorking who earned a scrum ten metres from Colchester's line, zipped over for a converted try in response. Despite Colchester's diligence, Dorking scored again under the posts to give their side an interval lead of 7-14.

Matt Wadling's grubber kick bounced to score an opportunistic converted try in the second half. The score was closer now at 14-21 but Colchester had to settle for a losing bonus point when the referee blew the final whistle.
