Bonfire Night is here and you've only got 2 days to get your tickets!

1st XV travel to Fullerians, whilst A XV battle Brightlingsea at home

Our 1st XV had a monumental game last weekend beating Letchworth is a huge NINE try campaign. Hoping to use this momentum tomorrow, our 1st XV are raring to go as they travel to Fullerians. Despite sitting 3 places below Colchester in the league table, Fullerians beat Ruislip away last weekend, something Colchester failed to overcome, so this weekend's match up is looking to be an interesting competition. If you're travelling to Middlesex to watch then you can find the directions to Fullerian's club here. Please note, due to the clocks going back, the game will kick off at the earlier time of 2.30pm.

Our Ravens came heartbreakingly close to beating a strong Old Albanians side last weekend, missing out by just 3 points! This weekend they travel to London Irish to complete the game that was postponed in October against their Wild Geese. London Irish currently sit above the Ravens in the league on points difference alone, so a win here will see our players rise further up the table. The game is being played at the impressive training ground for the Premiership side so it's well worth the trip to cheer our boys to victory! Kick off is at 2.30pm and you can find the directions here.

Our A XV are on a roll, with two enormous wins in a row. First beating Sudbury 40-0 and last weekend beating Mistley 45-8. Our players hope to do the same as they host Brightlingsea at Mill Road tomorrow. Make sure you're there to cheer on our players as they go into battle at 2pm- our bar will be open as always so it's a great chance to grab a drink and buy your Fireworks tickets!

Our Cavaliers are on home soil tomorrow as well as they host Bury IVs. After a brilliant win at home against Sudbury last weekend our Cavs sit proudly at the top of the Eastern Counties 2 table. This weekend is set to be another brilliant game so make sure you're at Mill Road for the 2pm kick off!

After a tough game against Alde & Thorpe last weekend, our Roundheads take to the road this weekend as they travel to Mistley. Our veteran side are looking for a win and you'll be in for a great game if you go and support! The game gets underway at 2.30pm and the address for Mistley's club can be found here.

As always our fantastic bar will be open from 12pm for you to grab a drink and buy your Fireworks tickets before cheering on our home sides.

1st XV: The Review, with John Smith

Every week Senior Chairman Jon Smith writes a review of the 1st XV's last game and a separate preview to the next game. These articles will give you the behind the scenes low down on what goes on with our 1st XV and in an insight into the inner workings of our club. Jon's review of last weekend is already up on the website here covering the 1st XV's huge win over Letchworth. This week, in his preview, Jon explains the 1st XV selection process.

"Reflecting on the Letchworth game it was great to see our forwards carrying the ball in the right areas and creating mismatches. Examining the tries in detail, our forwards played a significant role in every try, for example, Dan Whiteman and Ollie Pickett combining to score the first, Pickett again feeding Crozier for try number two, a solid scrum provided the base for Matt Wadling to run in the third try and a driving line out started and finished by Rhys Hartley secured the fourth (and bonus point) try. These examples of forwards and back working in combination are a real step in the right direction for the team and we need to sustain this progress against Fullerians this weekend.

Fullerians had a good victory last week at Ruislip (37-44) and some of their pre-match "tweets" (now deleted!) indicate that they are already planning how to celebrate a win over us on Saturday evening. We are determined to spoil their party so expect some fireworks! Fullerians are named after Elizabeth Fuller - who founded a free school for girls and boys in Watford in 1704. In 1894 an old boys association, known as "Old Fullerians" and one of the societies that emerged from the old boys association was Fullerians RFC.

In terms of selection there are just a few enforced changes. The forwards remain unchanged from the nine-try victory over Letchworth. Simon Gray and Rob Pickard will again provide utility cover from the bench. Joe Colcomb will again partner Eli Castle in the second row, a pairing that did an excellent job around the pitch against Letchworth and made their collective presence felt! Having Eli Castle back in the 1st XV mix has given everyone a lift. In training and in games Eli brings a great deal of power and stability to the tight five; his short, driving carries 'around the corner' enable our loose forwards and midfield to attack the space he creates."
