It was a spectacular evening for the club as Colchester RFC picked up three prestigious awards...

The first award was handed to Anthony O'Riordan, Director of Rugby for Coach of the Year. Anthony was commended for his success in coaching the 1st XV & Ravens to promotion last season and encouraging a coaching culture that lead to the promotion of all other Colchester senior teams. His enthusiasm and passion continues to benefit the club as the 1st XV and Ravens successfully compete at such a high level. Congratulations Ant!

Colchester RFC's next award came in the form of Community Club of the Year. Colchester's inclusive attitude was praised as the the club was recognised for its emphasis on participation rather than results. This philosophy has resulted in one of the largest youth sections in the country; so successful that 30 of the 36 senior players in the 1st XV squad are home grown. All of this would not be possible without the wealth of volunteers we have at CRFC, so we dedicate this award to them.

Finally, Colchester RFC's 1st XV were awarded Team of the Year; beating all other competitive teams in Colchester. This accolade was given to the team after their tremendous performance last season and consequent promotion into National League 3; the highest league Colchester has ever competed in. Now playing with the top 10% of rugby clubs in the England, the 1st XV were commended for their achievements in their new league this season; most notably for proving tough opponents for semi professional clubs. This was evident most recently when they beat top-table East Grinstead. Congratulations 1st XV!

The Community Club of the Year sword was quickly put to good use as Strength & Conditioning Coach James Elliott was finally properly initiated into the coaching staff...

Thank you to everybody who contributed to the club this past year. Here at CRFC we are proud to be able to produce such great talent and offer such a friendly and welcoming club environment, which is largely thanks to our club members, volunteers and players. These awards would not have been won without a team effort. We really are the best club around- we've now got the awards to prove it!
