FOR MINI/MIDI SECTION CONTACTS GO TO THE BOTTOM OF THE PAGE.

U6 - U12 TRAINING STARTS SUNDAY 5TH SEPTEMBER 2010 AT 10:30. MEMBERSHIPS/REGISTRATION CAN BE COMPLETED IN THE CLUB HOUSE. IF YOU ARE A NEW MEMBER WE SUGGEST YOUR CHILD TRIES FOR 2-3 WEEKS BEFORE PAYING MEMBERSHIP TO CHECK THAT THEY DO ENJOY THEMSELVES BEFORE MAKING PAYMENT.

Car Parking on Sundays
Many thanks to all parents for parking as directed by the marshalls. On Sundays we have Mini/Midi and Youth training and/or matches that start form 10:30 onwards and limited parking so it is essential we manage our parking carefully with all taking their turn to park at the overflow car park at Rapid Electronics. Your continued support and assisitance is greatly appreciated.

The Club House

Please note over recent weeks it has become increasingly difficult to clean the carpets in the main and small bar due to ingrained chips. Whilst it is a rugby club our main revenue stream is the hiring out of the club for social events and appearance is important as the club have invested around £400,000 on the club house in the last five years.

Please could I ask all parents and children to treat the club house with the same respect they would of their home so that we do not have a chip carpet. I appreciate I either ask for help or have a whinge for which I apologise but it is very important we look after our second biggest asset with the main one being our little rugby warriors.

Welcome to the Colchester Mini Midi Rugby pages, where you can find news of fixtures, results and events affecting Colchester Minis/Midis.

Child welfare and safety are very important to the Club, and parents and players are advised to read our policy document so they know what is expected of them, and where to turn for guidance.

This is the new name for Child Welfare - in due course all policies will be on the Safeguarding page
Martin Pratley is our Safeguarding Officer - if you have any concerns, please contact him on 01206 561688 (H) 07785 777786 (M) or e-mail him on mlp@colchester41.fsnet.co.uk.

Training is every Sunday between 10:30 am and 12:00 noon starting from the first Sunday in September to the end of April. Children are encouraged to try the game for a couple of weeks before deciding to join the club, but only paid up members can play in games against other clubs. Membership is based on a family membership dependant on the number of playing children in the family and starts at £60. Match Fees are also payable with the membership and these are £15 per Mini/Midi player.

It is essential that children dress appropriately for the weather conditions both at training and on match days. When it is cold, sweatshirts, jogging bottoms, gloves, woolly hats, and anything else necessary to keep the cold out should be worn. Please do not wear clothing with zipz for tarinmg or match paly.

Children should bring a drink (not fizzy) to all training sessions and matches.

Mouthguards must be worn at all ages. They can be bought from the club shop, although a custom-made mouthguard from your dentist will always be the best option. Boots should have moulded studs or aluminium studs although "Blades" are discouraged but are permitted provided that they do not have any sharp edges. Any item of clothing which is considered unsafe or dangerous will not be permitted. For match days children must provide their own Colchester RFC shirt, black shorts and black socks with white tops. These are available from the club shop.

All age groups are coached by RFU qualified coaches. All coaches have been the subject of a C.R.B. check. First aiders are always on hand and a qualified physiotherapist will be in attendance at each training session and home fixture.

All mini/midis matches must be taken by a qualified referee, and Colchester RFC has a number within its mini section, with courses held each season to train more.

Any queries about the Mini/Midi Section should go to the Mini/Midi's Chairman, Andy Wadling, or to the individual age group managers. Ages are taken as midnight on 31st August.

The club expects all players, coaches, referees and parents to comply with, the Club's Child Welfare Policy and Codes of Conduct.

Please Remember..........

.......that the reputation of the Club will be judged by, not only the quality of the rugby that it plays and the conduct of the players, but also by the standard of behaviour of its parents and other spectators.

There are Codes of Conduct for parents and spectators as well as coaches and match officials.

You should familiaraise yourselves with these Codes.

Especially, please, note that abuse of match officials will not be tolerated. The children are taught to respect the referee and to accept his, or, indeed, her, decisions without question however "wrong" those decisions may seem to be.

Respect for the match officials is fundamental to the game of Rugby Union and is what distinguishes it from most other sports.

As adults, it is our responsibility to set the children an example and to show match officials courtesy and respect.

All of these wonderful people are supported by an army of fantastic coaches, referees and other volunteers, who ensure that our children are able to play and enjoy their rugby on a Sunday.

For additional age group information and contact details please refer to the age group pages.

ALWAYS REMEMBER THE CHILDREN SHOULD BE PLAYING WITH A SMILE ON THEIR FACE AND ENJOYING THEMSELVES. AS ADULTS IT IS OUR TASK TO ENCOURAGE THIS BY OFFERING POSITIVE ENCOURAGEMENT AND APPLAUSE AT ALL OPPORTUNITIES TO COLCHESTER PLAYERS AND THEIR OPPONENTS.
