Welcome to Colchester RFC U10's

Welcome to the U10's web pages.

If you are currently in Year 5 and interested in Rugby - come & join us! We are in our 2nd year of contact rugby and aiming to build on our successes of last season.
The Under 10s Team

We have Parent Representatives, Coaches for each of our three squads and many assistant coaches to help:

Parent Representatives:
Andrew Sutcliffe (Rooks)

Ben Addley (Jays)

Alasdair Jones (Magpies)

Coaching is held on a Sunday, at 10:00-11:00, at the CRFC ground. Please aim arrive at 9.45 for a prompt start and to avoid car park congestion, coaches are typically there from 09:30
Parking is provided at the rear car park, or as directed by the parking attendants.
After coaching, we welcome players into the clubhouse main room (straight ahead at the top of the stairs) where you can purchase drinks and food but **** Please remove rugby boots before going upstairs ****

Fixtures (Matches and Festivals)

Throughout the season we will be participating in a number of matches both home and away against other clubs. The duration will be an hour with travel typically up to 45 mins for away fixtures.
Starting time for home matches will be aligned to our regular coaching (10:00), for away matches we take 30 mins. A meal will be provided by the hosting club following the match.
In addition to matches we’ll participate in a number of festivals (or tournaments). The duration is typically 16:00, with travel up to 2 hours. No food or beverages are provided by CRFC or the hosting club for festivals although onsite catering is provided and often other entertainment for the kids between and after fixtures. Please feel free to bring chairs, blankets, umbrellas, picnic etc.
We try to balance the number of matches and festivals evenly between the squads. Occasionally space may be opened to players from other squads should we be struggling for numbers.

Rugby Kit
Rugby is a winter sport and as such we recommend dressing the children in layers that can easily be added and removed as required. Suggested kit is as follows:
• Base layers (top and bottoms)
• Rugby shirt
• Warm/fleece top
• Shorts
• Socks
• Jogging bottom
and spares in case they get wet)
• Hat
• Waterproof top and bottoms
• Rugby boots (preferred) or trainers (depending on conditions)

Kit is available in the CRFC shop and players taking part in matches and festivals are required to wear the official shirt with black shorts and socks. Sports Direct, GO Outdoors and Inter Sport are also further good local suppliers.
**** Please remember to bring a drink for your child ****

players must be registered members of the club with a current RFU number or playing in matches and festivals WILL NOT BE ALLOWED.
New players only - we allow a maximum of three weeks before membership is payable to ensure your child is happy with us. If membership is not received by the third week your child WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO TAKE PART.
Membership is payable to Colchester Rugby Football Club directly by cash, cheque, Direct Debit or debit/credit card.

Subs of £1.00 are payable each coaching session, when attendance is registered with the Parent representative. On match days and festivals no subs are due.
Car Parking - every age group is required to take turns with manning the car parks. We will put out a request ahead of our weeks, please can parents be aware that we will ask, and be prepared to assist in the smooth running of our club. If an insufficient number of parents volunteer, coaches will need to assist which will reduce coaching time.
Dogs - Dogs are welcome at our club but please remember to clean up after your pet- children do fall over, and mud is the worst thing you want to be washing off….
Sponsorship - If you or someone you know would like to sponsor our minis section please speak to us.
Social Events - The club run many social events, including quiz nights, the Halloween and Christmas parties. Tickets for events are available through parent reps or behind the bar.
Lastly….. Please remember that we are all volunteers. The coaches attend courses to ensure they provide the best experience for the children, and we all dedicate time to keep things running smoothly. From time to time we may put out requests for help - we appreciate any offers!

Thank you for joining us!
